Jane Misanthrope

Don’t try and tell me that you’re not everything you are, cause you are.

A voice as soft as your hair, with eyes fully aware

you look so elegant just standing there.

There’s so much more I want to show you than showing up.

They’re are so many motions we could go through that just aren’t us.

We haven’t lived the longest of stories,

but the sun always rises in less than a morning

(I’m loving this so far).

There hasn’t been much that we’ve come to address,

but death by meteors and Russian roulette

(Our time’s been up to par).

So let’s make a symbolic toast

before you make for summer and I make for the coast.

Before you leave with you mafia friends,

let’s break some more laws again.

Behind all these questions of where to go

and speaking through walls of broken homes,

I can’t get over how you wonder when we’re alone.

Through all of these tries and analogies

I have no apologies when I hear you say the words how funny.

I don’t care where we go as long as you’re there.
